US aid for Pakistan

The United States has provided Pakistan with more than $12 billion in military and economic assistance since 9-11.
Now, a bill in Congress would authorize $3 billion in aid to train and equip the Pakistani military over the next five years, along with $7.5 billion in economic and development assistance. Just as it did with Iraq, Congress is also moving toward imposing benchmarks that the Pakistani government must meet to qualify for billions of dollars of U.S. military assistance.
