Obama pursues Bush policies on torture

The Obama administration filed an appeal against the recent court judgment that detainees in Afghanistan can challenge their detention. Obama thus upholds one of Bush's unlawful policies.

Also, CIA Director Leon E. Panetta said Thursday that agency officers who conducted harsh interrogations under the previous administration should not be investigated or punished.

And Obama endorsed a Justice Department move to dismiss a case in which the National Security Agency is being sued over its warrantless wiretapping program, because he believes the case presents a risk to national security.
