The FT has an article saying that Richard Holbrooke, US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, stated that the Taliban now get more money from private donors from the Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia than from drugs.
Holbrooke also suggested that much of the funding from poppy production appeared to go to individuals linked in some way to the Afghan government.
